In Texas' Biggest High School Football Rivalry, The La Porte Bulldogs Defeat the Deer Park Deer

If my mom had purchased a home six or seven houses down the street on Lambuth Lane in Deer Park, Texas, I would have lived within the Deer Park Independent School District. I'd forever be a Deer Park Deer. Because of where the school district lines were drawn, I attended La Porte High School, Baker Junior High and even College Park Elementary while living as a resident of Deer Park. All LPISD schools. Later, I even attended college while living in Deer Park. I grew up around Deer Park kids. I love and respect both communities.

However, I am proudly a La Porte Bulldog.

Each year, the varsity football teams from both these bordering Houston-area communities have met for more than six decades. While many people outside the area think we overstate this when we discuss the rivalry, they simply don't know. The week leading up to these games has historically included community and school pep rallies, bonfires, and more.

These aren't typical regular-season high school football games. And if La Porte just purchased a $56 million stadium, someone in Deer Park already has a plan for a new $56,000,001 stadium to replace Abshier. There is no way Deer Park families are driving to La Porte to watch the Deer lose in that mammoth place while they keep marching their kids to battle at Abshier. If you don't understand that, you most likely don't live in Deer Park or La Porte. You don't understand this rivalry.

Congrats, Bulldogs. The nostalgic part of me was initially upset a bit when I heard they were building a new stadium, not because I didn't want you to get a fantastic new place, but because that isn't the same stadium I graduated in. But after seeing the game Friday night, I realize that is the stadium I graduated in. It's just better. Much better.

It's a great day to be a Bulldog. While I've seen many Bulldogs vs. Deer games over the years, I don't know that I've seen one any more exciting than what I saw Friday night. Keep up the great work.

Ready for Victory? Here are Shouts of Joy with And One from Germany's Industrial Machine

To my Princess warriors everywhere, you are absolutely forbidden to harm yourself with a gun or any other weapon. Instead, quietly stand stong and resist! And One is yet another German act keeping an eye on us here in the States. I look foward to hugging each of them right next the preacher. Thank you.

It's So Hard Being Without My Sweetheart. But I'm Going to Love What I've Got Anyway

Frankly, sweetheart, we have to love this way because we aren't able to be together right now. I know the time without each other is difficult, but I look forward to our eventual life spent in each other's arms, my love. You're so beautiful it makes me stupid.

I really think you'll continue to enjoy the musical contributions of our friends across the pond in Europe. They love singing and dancing! They have been supportive of our efforts for so long, and I know they look forward to the great victory as much as we do here in the States. Stay tuned.

Thank you, Princess Alison, for your wonderful song and video. I will dance alone here in my living room today as you melt on the TV screen. I appreciate you.

Who Does She Turn to?

Let's go to Europe again on the blog for a while. Here's my favorite post from this time period, featuring my favorite Spice Girl, Princess Melanie C.

Who do you turn to, angel, when you need reassurance of our undying love? When the world seems to be going to pot? When the darkness seems to sneak up on you and ruin your day? Do you watch the folks on the television set? Do you listen to the people surrounding you everyday at work?

Why not try here instead? You're so beautiful and sweet it still makes me crazy. In other words, I have a better idea: Bookmark this site. Thank you.

I Eternally Love My Gospel Girls

I eternally love my Gospel Girls. In the early days, I often thought "Joy Comes in the Morning" would be a great name for a radio show for Princess Rebecca and myself. I even blogged about it. Now she's moved on and married a great guy. I'm always happy when my former Princess ladies find their husband.

But she raises a great question I think is applicable to anyone reading this today: Who else is waiting for me? Are you, sweetie? Will you have nice things to say about me as well? Let's spend some time together, and I'm confident you will. Keep waiting, angel. Peace be still.

Hey Princess Megan! I Believe You, Too

Hey Princess Megan! That's a big stage that I'd love to see you on. How about an even bigger stage we could share? Here's what you need to keep in mind: Doubt will constantly plague you if you pay attention to the wrong voices.

Look, without wavering, to the One who can make your dream come true. You've stood faithfully for longer than you should have needed to, frankly. You'll rise again here on the blog, and elsewhere, if you keep fighting the good fight. I'm proud of you.

Being My Lover Girl is Quite Easy and Pleasant

Don't look at being my girl as a difficulty or burden. It's a blessing, as Princess Laufey from Iceland will surely discover in the coming days. I don't know if the countdown to victory actually begins in Tokyo, but I'd never rule that out, and it's a fantastic suggestion.

Sweetie, you have now entered a select, revered group of women on this planet. You represent the Princess. I deeply appreciate you, and your fellow Icelanders, for your incredible gifts and talents and contribution to the effort. Thank you.

Princess Maya Misses Me Although She's Never Met Me Yet

As we enter the early planning stages of my next international visit, I need your help deciding where John Tyler goes next. Electronic and industrial music in Europe seems to have been a consistent contributor to our efforts here. Here's Maya Saban from Germany, who misses me greatly, although amazingly she's never met me yet.

She believes in dreams. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Fantastic music, some of it mostly unheard of until now by American audiences. And there's much more to come.
